About the Shure Dual Band Directional Antenna
The stock antennas on a GLXD4R+ hear in every direction, including the direction the interference is coming from. This one does not. It is a passive directional antenna covering both the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz bands, adding up to 8 dB of gain toward the stage and rejecting signals arriving from behind it by 24 dB.
When you need it
- The receiver rack is at front of house and the performer is 30 metres away
- The venue Wi-Fi access points sit behind or beside the receiver position
- A marquee or an outdoor site where the transmitters work at real distance
- Any GLX-D+ channel that has been dropping and should not be
Gain and rejection are the same tool
More gain toward the transmitter and less sensitivity to everything else are two halves of one fix. Pointing the antenna gets the wanted signal further above the noise floor, which is what actually buys range and stability. It mounts remotely on an RSMA connection, so it can go where the RF is rather than where the rack is.
