Overview

About the Shure GLXD4R+

Licence-free wireless has one real problem in Australia: everything else in the venue is also using 2.4 GHz. The GLXD4R+ answers it by working across two bands at once. It scans 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz together, which is 208.5 MHz of usable spectrum rather than 83.5, and when something walks onto the frequency it is holding, it moves to a clean one without a dropout you can hear.

Typical applications

  • Conference and awards lecterns where the venue Wi-Fi is saturated
  • Multi-channel speech rigs for panels, breakouts and hybrid events
  • Bands and DJs on a licence-free channel plan
  • Weddings and ceremonies where nobody is coordinating frequencies
  • Anywhere a UHF licence is not worth the paperwork

Rack it and forget the batteries

It is a metal half-rack box, so two of them fit a single rack unit with a bracket kit. The rechargeable pack gives up to 12 hours and charges in the receiver itself or over USB-C, which means the wireless rack goes into the truck charging and comes out ready. No AA budget, no mid-show swap.

Scaling past one channel

One receiver is one channel. Link a set of them to a GLXD+ Frequency Manager and the community coordinates itself: up to 16 channels across three cascaded managers, with the manager assigning frequencies and holding backups. Add the PA805DB directional antenna when the transmitters have to work at distance.
