The Beta 58A is the capsule that has been on the front of live vocals for thirty years, and for a reason: a supercardioid pattern that rejects hard off the sides and rear, a presence lift that puts a voice above a band, and a pneumatically shockmounted element that ignores the handling noise a nervous presenter generates. Supercardioid is the choice, not the default

A supercardioid pattern is tighter than a cardioid, which buys more gain before feedback on a loud stage or in front of a wedge. It also means the mic has to be pointed at the mouth to sound right, so it is the correct pick for singers and trained speakers and a conversation worth having for an unrehearsed presenter.

Rechargeable, and quickly
