About the DPA 4061 CORE
The 4061 is the loud one. It shares the acoustic design of DPA's 4060 miniature omni but runs about 10 dB less sensitive, which moves its clipping point up to 144 dB peak. That is the difference between a lavalier that survives a musical theatre belt at close range and one that distorts on the big note.
Typical applications
- Musical theatre and opera, where a performer sings at full voice with the capsule on their face
- Loud instrument miking on brass, drums and percussion
- Broadcast and corporate lavalier positions that need headroom in reserve
- Any body-worn position where the source is closer or louder than a lapel
What CORE changes
CORE by DPA is a redesigned amplifier inside the same capsule housing. Against the legacy 4061 it delivers 4 dB more dynamic range and 14 dB less distortion, and the practical effect is at the quiet end as much as the loud one: the noise floor drops, so a whispered line and a sung one both sit inside a usable 100 dB window without riding the gain.
Omnidirectional on purpose
An omni capsule has no proximity effect, so it does not change tone as a performer's head moves, and it is far less sensitive to wind and handling than a directional miniature. On a body it is the reliable choice; the trade is that gain before feedback has to be managed by the system rather than the pattern.
Hire the DPA 4061
Terminated in MicroDot, so it adapts to the transmitter the job is running. Black, which is the right choice for anything not skin-toned. Available across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and South East Queensland. Pairs with the SK 300 G4 RC bodypack.
