About the Radial USB-Pro
A laptop headphone socket is not a professional output, and every event that has ever gone through one has paid for it in noise, level and the moment somebody unplugs it. The USB-Pro takes the audio off the machine digitally over USB and converts it at 24 bit and 96 kHz to two balanced XLR outputs at mic level, which is what a console actually wants.
Typical applications
- Presentation and video playback audio at conferences and launches
- Backing tracks and click from a musical director's laptop
- DJ sets running off software
- Streaming and hybrid event playback into a live system
- Any laptop feed where the ground loop has already started buzzing
Digital out means no analog problems
Because the signal never leaves the computer as analog, there is no laptop output stage adding noise and no headphone volume control to be found at the wrong setting. Sample rates at 44.1 and 48 kHz are detected automatically, so a presenter's video plays back at pitch without anyone configuring anything.
Isolation and cueing
A ground lift drops pin 1 on both XLR outputs to kill a loop between the laptop's power supply and the stage. The 3.5 mm headphone output lets an operator cue the next track or confirm a video has audio before it hits the room.
