About the K&M 260/1

A round base stand takes up a fraction of the floor a tripod does, which is why it is the right stand for a lectern, a crowded stage or anywhere people have to walk. The weight is in a 250 mm cast iron foot rather than three legs, so it holds a microphone steady without anything to trip over.

The rubber insert does real work

There is a rubber anti-vibration insert between the base and the floor. On a hollow stage or a sprung dance floor, footfall travels up a bare stand and arrives at the capsule as a thump. The insert breaks that path, which is the difference between a clean speech channel and one fighting the room.
