The ETC Apex 5 is ETC’s mid-tier flagship lighting console within the renowned Eos family, a platform trusted by lighting designers across the world’s most demanding theatrical, live event, broadcast, and touring productions. The Apex 5 delivers the full power of Eos software in a surface that balances a compact footprint with a professional, feature-rich programming experience. With 24,576 DMX addresses across 192 universes, it is fully equipped to drive large-scale, complex rigs without compromise.

At the heart of the Apex 5’s workflow is a 23.8″ 4K multi-touch LCD display on a dual-axis articulating arm, giving designers the flexibility to position their primary screen for comfort across long programming sessions. The surface also supports up to three additional external monitors, allowing operators to spread magic sheets, live video feeds, or patch windows across a fully customised workspace. Six force-feedback encoders provide tactile, precise parameter control, while eight mini-encoders handle secondary attributes, all without lifting a hand from the desk.

Programming Power & Connectivity

The Apex 5’s five 60 mm motorized faders across 100 pages give programmers and operators a high degree of playback flexibility, whether running a Broadway-style theatrical show, a festival stage, or a large-format corporate event. Motorized faders recall positions automatically as pages change, keeping the operator oriented at all times.

Networking is enterprise-grade: four Gigabit Ethernet ports and two 10-Gigabit SFP+ ports ensure the console can anchor a high-bandwidth lighting network with headroom to spare, while PoE++ support simplifies connectivity for compatible network devices. Protocol support covers sACN, Art-Net, MIDI, SMPTE, OSC, and UDP, making integration with show control systems, timecode rigs, and automation straightforward. The console ships with a solid-state drive for fast boot times and reliable show-file storage, and its 14 USB ports (8× USB-A, 6× USB-C) accommodate peripherals, backup drives, and dongles without the need for a hub.

Eos software’s Augment3d built-in 3D visualisation environment allows pre-programming and real-time 3D fixture mapping directly within the console, reducing reliance on external visualiser workstations during prep.
