About the Event Lighting PixBalls2

The Event Lighting PixBalls2 is the modern, full-colour take on classic festoon. Instead of fixed warm-white bulbs, every ball on the string is a cluster of RGB LEDs that is individually controllable over DMX, so a single run can hold a static colour wash, chase a gradient, or pixel-map a video-style effect across the whole canopy. Each 5 metre string carries 10 balls on a twin catenary wire, fully IP65 rated for outdoor use.

Technical Overview

Each opal polycarbonate ball houses six 0.3W RGB LEDs with a 360 degree viewing angle, spaced 500mm apart along a 5 metre run. The string draws 24V DC at 15W and speaks DMX512, using 30 channels per string (three per ball) for full per-pixel control. The white 5-pin outdoor cable and IP65 sealing make PixBalls2 equally at home strung overhead at an outdoor wedding or rigged into a festival build, and strings link together for longer runs. Krank’d pairs them with the matching controllers, power supplies and DMX adaptors so a run arrives ready to plug in.
