For the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Art of the Score: The Music of Hans Zimmer at QPAC in May 2025, Krank’d was engaged to deliver a lighting design that matched the cinematic scale and emotional depth of Zimmer’s iconic scores.
Lighting designer Panda (@pandamoniumlx) crafted a dynamic rig suspended in a sweeping chevron formation above the orchestra. The design featured a versatile mix of fixtures – including; Martin MAC Viper XIP, TourPro ZB7, Zoom Par Junior, and Slim Par 7. This configuration allowed for seamless transitions between the grandeur of Gladiator, the tension of The Dark Knight.
The lighting design complemented the orchestral performance, enhancing the storytelling without overshadowing it. Notably, during the performance of Inception’s “Time,” the lighting subtly illuminated the conductor and the delicate soft keys in the dying moments of the piece, creating a visual reflection of the music’s meditative qualities.
This project exemplifies Krank’d’s commitment to delivering thoughtful, technically precise lighting solutions that enhance live performance experiences.
